Bogotá's Comptroller's Office Reveals Fiscal Findings of COP 9,390 Million for Irregularities in Contracting
The Comptroller's Office of Bogotá has found fiscal irregularities in contracting processes carried out by the local mayor's offices, amounting to COP 9,390 million (approximately USD 2.3 million).

Findings by Locality
The highest-value findings were recorded in the Santa Fe locality, where irregularities in the construction of the future headquarters of the Local Mayor's Office led to losses of COP 1,935 million (approximately USD 485,000).

Other findings include:
- COP 1,325 million (approximately USD 330,000) in the Antonio Nariño locality, due to irregularities in the awarding and execution of a contract for the maintenance of green areas.
- COP 1,200 million (approximately USD 300,000) in the Puente Aranda locality, due to irregularities in a contract for the provision of food supplies to educational institutions.
- COP 1,100 million (approximately USD 275,000) in the Bosa locality, due to the unjustified modification of a contract for the construction of a road.

Consequences
The Comptroller's Office has ordered the recovery of the embezzled funds and has referred the findings to the competent authorities for further investigation and possible criminal charges.
The Comptroller, Julián Mauricio Ruiz, stated that these findings are a warning to public officials to comply with the rules and procedures established for public contracting.
"We will continue to exercise rigorous control over the public resources of Bogotá to ensure that they are used efficiently and transparently," Ruiz said.
"These findings are a clear indication of the need to strengthen the controls and oversight of public contracting processes in Bogotá," said Bogotá's Mayor, Claudia López.
The findings by the Comptroller's Office are a reminder of the importance of transparency and accountability in public administration. Citizens have the right to know how their tax money is being spent and to hold public officials accountable for any misuse of public funds.
